Computer Courses Descriptions
The workshops are geared toward the interest, talent, and ability of registered participants. Courses may vary in topic, at the instructor’s discretion, to make the class enjoyable for all. Following aregeneral descriptions of what can be included in the courses.

Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are$54.00 and15 hours in length.(That’s only $3.60 an hour!) Progressing to the next level of the computer courses requires a proficient understanding of the computer skills covered in earlier courses. In order to be successful in the next level, you must be able to meet expectations and skill levels of that curriculum.

Novice Workshops

Evening Computer Courses
All TOSA evening classes are15 hours in length. Unless otherwise noted, each class is$64.00 for residents and$74.00 for non-residents.
Whether you are 52, 62 or 92, you can still learn and enjoy technology!Gain skills with limited hand/finger mobility. Learn at a slow pace how to turn computers on/off (without unplugging them!), what a mouse is and how to use it, differences between a keyboard and typewriter, and basic maneuvers in Windows 95.
A continuation of Beginning Computers for Seniors. If you feel good about your computer skills after the beginner class, try this! Learn how to create and manage your files in word processing and accessory programs, including basic design of letters, flyers and objects.
Previous experience: Beginning Computers or equivalent
Learn general Internet concepts, types of Internet connections and service providers, browse the World Wide Web and set up email.
A continuation of Intro to the Internet, develop an email address book, use researching techniques and send email attachments.
Previous experience: Intro to the Internet Using Internet Explorer
Become more efficient while "surfing" the World Wide Web by learning how to organize bookmarks, customize email preferences and download from the Internet.
Previous experience: Internet 2 (or equivalent)
Continuation of skills learned in Internet 3. Learn how to organize bookmarks and favorites, and discover how to handle download issues.
Previous experience: Internet 3 (or equivalent)
An introduction to using speadsheets. Create an easy address list and budget, and learn how to manipulate the information using skills you already know (plus new ones!).
Previous experience: Intermediate Computers (or equivalent)
Build upon your continuing knowledge from Excel to create more sophisticated spreadsheets. Learn about functions, and linking and embedding data. Transfer information from one spreadsheet to another.
Previous experience: Excel (or equivalent)
Microsoft Publisher is a desktop publishing program that allows you to easily create page layouts, including signs,flyers, office forms, newsletters and more! Set up and manipulate text and picture frames, insert pictures and clip art, and add borders. Work with templates and wizards, and add Word Art to your publications.
Previous experience: Microsoft Word
Do you ever wonder how the financial advisors make those computerized presentations? Learn how to put together your own photo show.
